Sources of Energy
The multimedia data base on CD
** The multimedia, english-language publication Sources of Energy gives information about energy sources, theories of their originations, methods and places of their applications. The topics are available in the form of texts, pictures, animations, photographs or videos. It is a great information source, didactic material very helpful in physics and related subjects in the secondary schools.
- How to set up Sources of Energy?
Before running the Disk for the first time, it is necessary to perform a set up procedure. When you have done it, double click on the "Sources of Energy" icon to start the program.
- How to use the Disk "Sources of Energy"?
Move the mouse pointer to the main topic of your choice in the main menu and click. The further topics will be presented. Further mouse clicks will allow you to browse through the elements of particular topic. Clicking the button in the top left of a screen will take you back to the main menu. - RENEWABLES
- you can find here information about wind, solar, biogas, biomass, hydro and wave energy. You will find out how to use solar heating, wind energy, wave energy, high tides and low hides and what are the sources of biomass and biogas energy. You will see very interesting pictures, animations and videos about hydroelectric stations, dams, windfarms, projects of solar heating and others.
- NON-RENEWABLES
- you can find here information about such energy and nuclear energy sources like: coal, oil, gas. You will find out how the oil, gas, coal powered stations and nuclear power stations operate. You will see very interesting videos and photographs of the most modern power stations, turbines, generators and oil wells and rigs.
- APPLICATIONS, EFFICIENCY & ENVIRONMENT
- you can find here information about the industrial applications of various energy sources. You will deal with a problem of the atmosphere protection. You will find out how to use thermal energy efficiently and how to regain your home heat.
- TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
- the grid map illustrates the system of transmission and distribution of the electric energy in England. You will find out the principles of the energy transmission, heat losses and the needs of the application of the transformers. Presented information is enriched with the photographs of the electric power station in London and high voltage lines and towers.
- PRINCIPLES OF POWER GENERATION
- photographs and videos illustrating the technologies of energy generation.
- FACTS & FIGURES
- figures and numbers give information about the emission of noxious gases into the atmosphere. The world energy consumption and power demands are presented as well.
- QUIZZES
- you have the opportunity to check your knowledge.
- FURTHER INFORMATION
- you will find out information about the companies leading in the electricity production, using various energy sources and about the services of these companies. The material is enriched with photographs and interesting descriptions.
